Have More Fun with Bridal or Wedding Shower Favors
We all know that it is customary for a host or hostess to include favors for the guests at any type of party. These are normally just some sort of small, inexpensive items that are given out as a way to thank the guests for coming. Different types of parties call for different types of favors, so it is no surprise that a bridal or wedding shower calls for bridal or wedding shower favors.
One thing not a lot of people know is that bridal or wedding shower favors can be used in many different capacities at the event. Some hostesses like to incorporate them into the decoration used to make the venue ready for the party. Then, as the guests leave, they each take one of these little favors with them, reducing the amount of cleanup left to the hostess at the end of the party. Using bridal or wedding shower favors as part of the decorations is just one interesting way to incorporate them into the party.
Another thing that many hostesses do when planning a bridal or wedding shower is order some extra favors, usually some a little more valuable. These are then placed in packages to be given to the winners of the various games the ladies play at the shower. Without spending a great deal of money on prizes, the hostess is able to ensure that each winner receives a selection of items that will leave her feeling as if she has received something to celebrate her winning.
Today, not all bridal showers are for the ladies alone. More and more often, the event is put together with the groom and his friends invited as well in what has come to be called a “Jack and Jill” wedding shower. At this sort of wedding shower, the company is mixed, which will affect the activities that take place, and the shower gifts are usually given to the bride and groom as a couple instead of just to the bride. There are still many different wedding shower favors that are good for decorating and giving to the guests in mixed company.
As far the prizes for the games go, the hostess can order some of the items that are appropriate for either sex, or order some that are more feminine and some more masculine and award them to the game winners according to their gender. Using this approach helps to ensure that all the guests participate and are happy with the prizes they receive when they win a game.
Whether it is a bridal shower for the soon-to-be bride or a wedding shower for bride and groom, the tradition dates back over two centuries, some people say even farther. In the past few years, giving favors as gifts to thank guests for attending has become a tradition at all sorts of parties, including bridal or wedding showers. These favors do cost much, but they can serve different purposes during the party. They may simply be given out at the door, included as part of the decorations and given out as people leave, or grouped together in gift bags and given as prizes to those winning the various games.
